Repair shaft bushings are used to repair a damaged shaft or to prevent such damage. After long-term use, the sealing edge of the gufer carves a groove in the shaft, after which it no longer rests properly, resulting in leaks of the sealing medium or ingress of dirt behind the gufer. Repair shaft sleeves are stainless steel sleeves that are stretched onto the shaft with the help of a mounting flange, thanks to the softer stainless steel material they seal the joint between the sleeve and the shaft, after the subsequent assembly of the gufer, the sealing edge already rests on this sleeve. In new applications, especially when grinding a guffer with a Teflon blade, we recommend using this bushing already during initial assembly, and changing the bushing during all major repairs, thus keeping the shaft intact.
